Brother Ignace Nabede joined our Hospitaller family in Toronto in 2024. Brother Ignace brought with him a wealth of experience and dedication that has enriched our mission and services immeasurably.
Born in Togo, Brother Ignace embarked on his vocation with the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God on August 15, 2003. His commitment to this vocation was marked by his first profession of vows on August 15, 2005, followed by his Solemn profession of vows on December 12, 2012. Over the years, he has dedicated himself to the service of others with a deep sense of mission
Brother Ignace’s academic journey is equally impressive. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Lomé University in Togo, where he studied from 2005 to 2009. This academic foundation has greatly informed and enhanced his approach to his work within the Hospitaller Order.
In his time with Good Shepherd in Toronto, Brother Ignace has made a profound impact on the vulnerable community that Good Shepherd supports.
The experience has been quite formative for Brother Ignace as well:
“14 months 18 days in the service of suffering humanity: the poor, the sick, the elderly and the homeless.
I learned a lot: how to serve hot meals, listen, give advice and guide. I saw how Good Shepherd prepares warm beds with blankets to welcome the homeless. It’s impressive. All is done by dedicated and committed hospitality coworkers and volunteers.
I give thanks to the Good Shepherd brothers for their commitment to maintaining the flame of hospitality in the tradition of Saint John of God.
I give thanks to Mr. Aklilu Wendaferew for his leadership, his humility, his availability, and his listening spirit.
I give thanks to Mr. Glenn Morgan for his dedicated service as the Assistant Executive Director at Good Shepherd Ministries.
I give thanks to Adrienne for her fundraising efforts on behalf of Good Shepherd.
The list of people that contribute to Good Shepherd’s mission of helping the homeless is too large to name everyone individually, so I give thanks to everyone who has participated and continues to participate.
I give special thanks to everyone who has accompanied me on this noble mission.
The mission continues and I will be grateful for your daily support.”
Brother Ignace will now continue his mission with Good Shepherd Centres in Hamilton, Ontario. Please join us in wishing Brother Ignace well in the next stage of his mission. We hope to have Brother Ignace returning soon.
