Easter represents many things to many people.
For children it means the arrival of the Easter Bunny with basket full of delicious treats.
For nature, it means the sprouting of shoots and buds that, with the right conditions, will grow into beautiful blossoms and seasonal varietals.
For charities such as Good Shepherd Ministries, Easter is a crucial time. It means providing a meal, shelter, and a kind word to those on the margins of our community who need compassion and who would otherwise go without, yet again.
The Mission of Good Shepherd Ministries is to provide support and care to our community’s homeless and neglected members. We offer a wide range of compassionate programs and services that enhance the quality of life, promoting human dignity and inspiring hope. This year-round effort is made possible due to the dedication and generosity of our coworkers, volunteers, benefactors, and partners.
For the last 60 years, Good Shepherd has provided support services to the homeless community, offering them a warm and safe place to stay. On holidays like Easter, when the line of people waiting outside our building at 412 Queen St. E. for a meal and some company stretches around the block, we are reminded of the immense need for these services.
Good Shepherd Ministries vision is to alleviate poverty’s effects while striving to eliminate chronic homelessness within our community. But on any given night in Toronto, there are over 10,000 people that are homeless, and even more when the hidden homeless are considered. To meet even a small portion of the immense need within our community, we need help, YOUR help.
This Easter, as you sit down to share a lovingly prepared meal with your friends and family, please consider extending the kindness and love shown to the individuals within our shared community who are cold and hungry.
At Good Shepherd Ministries, we consider it our responsibility to care for those who use our services. We hope that you will join us in supporting individuals in need.
