Read about how Good Shepherd’s partnership with Helmets to Hardhats helps homeless Veterans in the December 2022-January 2023 Issue of the Canadian Construction Journal. The article about Good Shepherd Ministries starts on page 55.

“When you fall down a hole of homelessness, it’s very hard to climb out unless you get a hand up,” explains Br. David Lynch in the article. It takes a broad range of services to give someone the help they need to climb out.

It was at a Good Shepherd Gala that Br. David met Joe Maloney, the man who brought Helmets to Hardhats from the United States to Canada. Br. David talked with Joe about the surprising number of Veterans using Good Shepherd’s services for the homeless and Joe asked how he could help. From that first meeting, the partnership grew.

Getting a job through Helmets to Hardhats gives recently-housed Veterans a purpose in life. As Br. David put it, “At least in the service they had colleagues and comrades, but when you’re alone all day in your apartment with nothing to do, that’s when the demons come back.”
