We are currently accepting applications for 2 Evening Support Worker positions (part-time onsite) for our new North York facility (Downsview Dells). Reporting to the Manager, DARE Program, the Night Support Worker enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients through his/her assumed responsibility for delivering support, housekeeping, and safety services to clients and visitors accessing Good Shepherd Ministries.

Job duties for this position include but not limited to: Preparing and process registration data for each client using City of Toronto’s Shelter Management Information System (SMIS), cover the reception desk, answering telephone calls and other enquiries, accept and record donations of food, clothing or monetary gifts from benefactors, pick up food and clothing donations as directed, document client information that may be needed by other departments or the oncoming shift, make referrals to other agencies as appropriate, and provide/arrange transportation for clients to other agencies, to restock dormitory supplies, i.e. bedding, towels and personal hygiene products as necessary, to provide food to clients as directed, snack set up and monitor dining room during snack time, supervise both dormitories and carry out headcounts to ensure an exact record of occupancy, monitor client/building safety and security, take necessary action in the event of a fire, medical or physical emergency and, if necessary, inform “On Call” co-workers. The successful candidate must take initiative and work effectively both independently and as part of team to accomplish daily tasks.
