Oh, what a night! On SUPER BOWL Sunday, February 9th, Rabba Fine Foods, through their Rabba Roots Community program, sponsored the Good Shepherd annual Super Bowl party, their 9th year of sponsoring this highly anticipated event. The abundance of delicious goods on hand was thanks to donations from Pizzeria Libretto, Maple Leaf Foods, Lassonde, Cambell’s, Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Limited and Conagra.
The menu included gourmet pizza, perogies, cabbage rolls, cake, cotton candy, chicken wings, hot dogs, fries, onion rings, beverages, and more. Additionally, an assortment of thousands of snacks and 500 warm toques were donated to be distributed to those in need throughout the coming days.
Good Shepherd shelters 128 men every night and provides more than 900 meals every day to people who are homeless and those struggling with food insecurity. Having a community partner such as RABBA Fine Foods not only speaks to their commitment to being a part of the community but their belief in being part of the solution to help others in need.
Many people that are homeless suffer from social isolation and loneliness, which can exacerbate mental health struggles. Events such as the Rabba Super Bowl party, help to bring together those that are usually alone for a night of companionship, camaraderie and revelry.
Rima Rabba, head of marketing with Rabba Fine Foods says the company’s support for the work that Good Shepherd Ministries does aligns with the value of Rabba Fine Foods’ founder. “Rabba cares about the community a lot. We really want to be there for our communities,” she continues. “Being here for our customers is one thing, but being here for the larger community is another thing. That’s something that’s important to us. For the men who use The Good Shepherd Ministries, it is important to give them the sense of comfort and celebration and normalcy and give them a hot meal and some camaraderie and a little bit of excitement for the day. And the Super Bowl is a great sporting event to get that.“
