Volunteer Appreciation 2026

On the morning of October 24, 2024, Good Shepherd volunteers gathered at St. Paul’s Basilica for our Flannel & Flapjacks: a little bit of plaid, a lot of gratitude volunteer appreciation event, a special celebration honouring the compassionate individuals who help make our mission of being present to those experiencing homelessness possible.

Embracing the plaid theme, guests arrived in their favourite checkered attire and enjoyed a morning of fellowship over breakfast. Reflecting on the impact of their service across Good Shepherd’s programs and services.

The morning began with welcoming remarks from the Good Shepherd team, acknowledging the time, talent and commitment volunteers offer and the incredible support they offer Good Shepherd.

One of the most meaningful highlights of the morning was the Wall of Gratitude, featuring handwritten messages of appreciation from Good Shepherd coworkers and DARE (Drug and Alcohol Recovery Enrichment) program clients. These heartfelt notes offered volunteers a powerful reminder of the difference they make in the lives of others through their generosity, compassion, and commitment to service.

As the morning ended, the spirit of gratitude was felt throughout the room. Volunteers help create welcoming spaces where people can find support, belonging, and hope. We are deeply grateful for all that you do and proud to celebrate the difference you make in the lives of so many.

Thank you for being the heart of Good Shepherd. ❤️
