GivingTuesday is the world’s largest generosity movement. Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a stranger, or giving to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give. GivingTuesday has grown into a global movement with hundreds of millions of people participating in whatever ways they can. The mission is to create a world where giving is part of everyday life.

Homelessness Statistics

  • Number of people experiencing homelessness: On any given night, over 10,000 people are homeless in Toronto. Statistics Canada says Toronto has the highest number of homeless people in the country. 
  • Food Insecurity: According to Toronto.ca 24.9% of Toronto households experienced food insecurity in 2023.
  • Age: According to Statistics Canada, over 46% of the homeless population are aged 35-54

Since 1963, Good Shepherd Ministries has brought the light of hope and the warmth of hospitality to Queen St. East.

For over 60 years, Good Shepherd has welcomed people who are hungry, homeless, suffering.

Our Mission

To be present to the homeless and most neglected members of our community. To offer a broad range of compassionate programs and services to enhance the quality of life while inspiring hope and promoting human dignity.

By donating to Good Shepherd, you are providing the support needed to offer programs and services to assist homeless and vulnerable members of our community.

Donated funds are used to provide:

  • Community meal program serving over 900 meals a day
  • 128 shelter beds. Occupancy runs at 100% capacity throughout the year
  • Clothing distribution
  • Addictions pre and post treatment counselling through the DARE program
  • Medical care by a RN onsite who provides client-center care
  • Housing services which include Eviction Prevention and Support Follow Up
  • Homeless Veterans programming
  • Supportive housing residences focused on people living with HIV/AIDS and elderly individuals with a history of chronic homelessness
  • Pastoral Care
